Dear Nick, I want to thank you for a quality set of plans that have led to the making of a beautiful and functional boat. I am an avid canoeist and sailor. This spring I had a fellow canoeist and friend from South Africa come to my home on the coast of North Carolina for a six week stay. In addition to our "on the water" activities we decided in advance to build a small boat while he was here. After considerable cruising of web sites we decided on your plans based on another builders recommendation and on the appearance of your finished boat. I have to say now that we love your design. The plans were great. The building was easy using minimal woodworking skills, fast (4 weeks of an hour here and an hour there), and the expense minimal. The finished product thrilled both of us. Luckily for me he couldn't take the pirogue back to South Africa so it has to stay here with me:-) I wasn't sure how a pirogue would perform. I expected it to be a poor performer and somewhat unstable but it is now my favorite boat. It is extremely stable. I can stand up in it, take it into very shallow water, carry it one handed and paddle it with ease. It sits flat on the ground or on the car and when you beach it it stays flat, no tipping to the side like in a canoe. The bottom line is thanks.
